Having been brought up on boats I learnt about the
basics of boat maintenance early on in life. With my parents changing
boats on a regular basis I became interested in Yacht Brokerage and the
buying and selling of boats, but it wasn't until 1993 that I started work
as a Yacht Broker. Prior to that I had been a Sail Maker, Yacht Chandler
and Estate Agent.
I learnt to sail at the age of nine in my first boat a
Mirror dinghy in 1971, since then I have owned a variety of dinghies. In
1989 I purchased a run down 1937 Hillyard 4 ton (21' L.O.D.) called
"Tamarisk" she had been laid up and neglected for 3
years. After a winters refit including new stern post, recaulking and
reconditioning of the Stuart Turner engine (yes I learnt my lesson) I kept
her until 1992 when foolishly I sold her.
First and fore most I am a Boat Person (Nut) and second
a Yacht Broker. I have spent my life on or around boats having been
brought up on a variety of Motor Cruisers from 21ft to a 57ft 35Ton Motor
Yacht. So I have an interest in all type of boats but especially Wooden
Boats and particularly Racing Yachts and Dinghies.
I am currently Boatless (my daughters have a Mirror dinghy) but I will
be (when the business is established) on the look out for a Knud
Reimers designed and built Tumlarne or a Reimers
designed 22 sq.M, so if you Know of one needing a good home please give me
a call just don't tell Rachel my wife!
